Samsung launches Bio-Processor to transform the wearable Industry

Semiconductor and one of the leading mobile manufacturer and Enterprise giant Samsung launched a new processor into the market. Most guess it to be an upgraded Exynos processor, but it isn't. It launched the whole new Bio-Processor. This Bio-processor is also an industry first. 

The world is smarter at the moment and the devices we use are getting smarter and smaller. Few years ago, most of us didn't expect to measure our heart rate with our mobiles and watches. Though the idea was foreseen, but we didn't expect it in reality in such quick time. We also knew Samsung was ahead in this race of wearable technology and heart-rate monitoring sensors. It was the first one to incorporate a heart-rate monitoring sensor into a mobile with the Galaxy S5. Now, it is once again the torch-bearer to introduce the world to a Bio-Processor. 

What Samsung Bio-Processor can do??   

Samsung's Bio-Processor is actually a single solution to track your health. The devices which we now have can monitor your heart rate and calculate the calories burnt, but it cannot address problems beyond that. 

Samsung’s Bio-Processor is the industry’s first all-in-one health solution chip. By integrating not only Analog Front Ends (AFE), but also microcontroller unit (MCU), power management integrated circuit (PMIC), digital signal processor (DSP), and eFlash memory, it is able to process the bio-signals it measures without the need of external processing parts. Even with its integrated design, the Bio-Processor is particularly innovative thanks to its incredibly small size. When compared to the total area of the discrete parts, the Bio-Processor is only about one-fourth of the total combined size, which is ideal for small wearable devices, offering a bounty of options when designing new devices. 

While heart rate monitoring alone may have been compelling in the past, the ability to measure a variety of fitness data is expected in today’s wearable products. To meet such demands, Samsung has designed its Bio-Processor to integrate five AFEs including bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), photoplethysmograph (PPG), electrocardiogram (ECG), skin temperature, and galvanic skin response (GSR) into a single chip solution that measures body fat, and skeletal muscle mass, heart rate, heart rhythm, skin temperature and stress level.

Samsung even revealed that the Bio-Processors will be used in the devices by the first half of 2016. These Bio-Processors can be incorporated in smart patches, wearable devices etc. 

With this, Samsung certainly opened the doors for improved wearable devices, that are debated for their limited advantages. Let's wait and see where the doors lead us to.

Apple's $99 iPhone Battery case a luxury

Apple unveiled its new battery case for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S. The case is priced at a hefty $99 which happens to be an additional luxury to the users of iPhone. The battery case holds a capacity of 1,877 mAh which prolongs your iPhone battery charge to provide you with 25 hours of talk time, 20 hours of video playback and 18 hours of web browsing over LTE along with the battery in your iPhone. 

Though the design of the battery case is hit harsh from critics, it does have its own positives to prove them wrong. The battery case has a bump in the middle of the case which was not well received by most people, but then it helps iPhone with better cellular coverage as it has built in antennas. The case doesn't charge your iPhone to 100 percent as it possesses a little lesser capacity to that of an iPhone, but when combined with the iPhone battery, it powers your device for a good amount of time, may be a complete day.

The phone once placed into the case embeds itself into the iOS and you can monitor the battery percentages of both iPhone and the battery case when you draw the notification bar from the top. There is no LED to display separate battery level for the case. Apple is known for its design standards, and this turned out to be an embarrassment for most avid lovers of Apple and its products. Few loved it, but then most hated it. So, it's gotta be you who has to choose at the end, whether you love it and buy it or reject it for cheaper battery cases that are available in the market. But you won't get the smartness this case provides, embedding your case into the iOS, monitoring your battery levels straight on the screen and improving your cellular performance.

Turing Robotics launches Mobile that is "Unbreakble" and "Unhackable"

Turing Robotics unveiled their new device, a mobile phone to be specific which is said to boast of the terms unbreakable and unhackable along with it.

 Turing Robotics, It is the firm from San-Fransisco which specializes in robotics and are the manufacturers of the Turing Mobile, which is scheduled for preorder from July 31.

"Unbreakable", The mobile is engineered and manufactured with Liquidmorphium, which is better compared to steel and aluminum, to help withstand damages. Liquidmorphium is the new age material that is being used in this mobile, is an amorphous alloy of zirconium, copper, nickel, aluminum, and silver, which makes it sustainable to accidental falls and dents.

"Unhackable", The mobile is secured with a separate encryption layer, called the "Turing coin" or "Turing key" which protects the users from potential hacks and sneaks to your mobile, with customized Android 5.1 on top as the Operating System.

Turing says the mobile is IPX8 rated, which they tested by immersing the device in water for 24hours and see no change to the device, the secret is out though, that they have applied hydrophobic nano-coating to internal parts for waterproofing the device.
