How to make a Bootable Pendrive for Windows 7

Hello Guys,

Today am gonna show you how to make a pen drive /usb drive bootable for Windows 7 so that you can format or upgrade your computer using a pen drive/usb drive.

Firstly let me tell you why should we use a pendrive to format our computers instead of a Windows 7 installation disc ?

The answers is,
In some computers there might not be a working DVD Rom or Writer to read a Windows 7 disc. Well this is not the correct answer.  The reason for using a pendrive/usb drive for formatting or upgrading our PCs or Laptops is because the installation process is very much faster when compared to Windows 7 installation disc. For example depending on your RAM if your computer takes approximately 30 minutes to completely install Windows 7 Operating system then by using a pendrive/usb drive you can do it within 10-15 minutes only. So it saves you half of the time. Moreover unlike Windows 7 disc, the Windows 7 installation through a pendrive doesn't get struck in the middle of the installation.

Please follow the below process step by step to make a bootable pendrive.

REQUIREMENTS :
1. Pendrive ( Minimum 4GB)
2. Windows 7 installation disc.

STEPS :

1. Insert the pendrive into the computer.
2. Open elevated Command Prompt. To do this, type in CMD in Start menu search field and hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter. Otherwise you can navigate to Start > All programs >Accessories > Right click on Command Prompt and select run as administrator or open RUN ,type cmd and hit enter.
3. When the Command Prompt opens, enter the following command:
DISKPART and hit enter.
LIST DISK and hit enter.
Once you enter the LIST DISK command, it will show the disk number of your USB drive.
4. In this step you need to enter all the below commands one by one and hit enter.
SELECT DISK 1 (Replace DISK 1 with your disk number)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT FS=NTFS
(Format process may take few seconds)
ASSIGN
EXIT

Now minimize the command window.
5. Insert your Windows DVD in the optical drive and note down the drive letter of the optical drive and USB media. Here I am using “H” as my optical (DVD) drive letter and “I” as my USB drive letter.

6. Go back to command prompt and execute the following commands:
H: CD BOOT and hit enter. Where “H” is your DVD drive letter.
CD BOOT and hit enter to see the below message.
BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 I:
(Where “I” is your USB drive letter)

The USB Drive is now Bootable.
7.Next copy the Windows DVD contents to USB and thats it.
You have completed making a bootable pen drive. You can keep it as it is for any future use or if you want to use it back as normal pendrive then just format it.

Hope this was useful.
Enjoy.
